A Palm Springs home designed by modernist architect William Krisel for the family that still owns it is for sale in Palm Springs’ Kings Point development.
The asking price is $1.25 million.
Completed in 1969, the 2,554-square-foot residence of all-white brick, stucco, and glass faces the Indian Canyon Country Club’s fairways. It has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and an open floor plan.
Walls of glass and terrazzo floors fill the home.
A row of clerestory windows lines a pop-up to the flat roof adding to the natural light that floods the living room with its soaring white brick fireplace.
Other highlights include a glass-enclosed bar area.
In the master bathroom, there’s a remodeled walk-in shower.
The sellers updated the house five years ago with top-of-the-line appliances in the gourmet kitchen, rooftop solar panels, and an electric charging car station.
Outside, the nearly quarter-acre grounds feature desert landscaping, water features, a mature citrus orchard and multiple entertaining and lounging areas.
There’s also a freestanding hot tub.
Louise Hampton of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties has the listing.
Krisel, who died in 2017 at 92, was one of Southern California’s most prolific architects whose work included the futuristic “House of Tomorrow” that recently sold for $2.6 million. He cemented his legacy in the post-war housing boom with affordable tract designs that blended indoor and outdoor spaces.
Other works include custom homes and commercial structures.
In the book “William Krisel’s Palm Springs: The Language of Modernism” about his work, photos of the Kings Point home under construction and then completed are featured. It is one of 43 mid-century modern homes designed by Krisel for developer Robert Grundt in this south Palm Springs golf community between 1968 to 1970.
