John White Real Estate Group triples sales volume in 2020

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – John White Real Estate Group of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties has expanded his team with licensed Realtors Deb Anderson and Tim Cutler following a record-breaking year of sales.

“Despite there being a lot of uncertainties in the real estate industry last year, I had one of my best years in real estate,” said John White, sales executive with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties and owner of John White Real Estate Group. “I had first-hand knowledge of people from cities all over the country who were moving to Palm Springs permanently. They were people who suddenly had the option to work remotely and could finally live in a resort-style town that was once deemed a secondary home market.”

White finished 2020 as one of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties’ top performing sales executives, completing $44 million in gross sales volume – a significant increase compared to 2019’s $15 million in sales. White had more than 40 closings throughout the past year, including Bob Hope’s former residence in the Movie Colony East neighborhood of Palm Springs that sold for $100,000 over the listing price.

To assist with the growing number of transactions, White brought on two Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties sales executives, Deb Anderson and Tim Cutler, to form the John White Real Estate Group.

“This past year’s rush of business became too much for just one person to handle, and it really pushed me to put this team together that I had been wanting to form for a long time,” White said. “It’s great to have two people who are so passionate about this industry working alongside me.”

White encouraged Anderson to become a licensed Realtor following several years of working in the home design and remodel industry. Leading up to earning her license, Anderson teamed up with an investment group to design six remodel projects in the Palm Springs area. One of those homes was a 1961 estate designed by Palm Springs architect Charles Du Bois, which was featured in local design publications and later sold by White.

“I would help design these homes from top to bottom, picking out everything from floor tiles to the backsplash design and door handles,” said Anderson, who is a native to Southern California. “Most of the remodels I worked on were mid-century modern, which is popular in Palm Springs. It’s one of the reasons why I love Palm Springs so much, because of the beautiful architecture and the style of homes here.”

Cutler, a Portland, Oregon native, also joined the team following decades of experience in the retail and restaurant industry. Anderson introduced him to White shortly after making the jump to real estate last year. “Our approach to business is very similar and we have very similar temperaments. It’s just been a great fit so far,” Cutler said.

Cutler was recently awarded Rookie of the Year by the Palm Springs Regional Association of REALTORS. “After years of working in customer service, I developed a keen sense of managing personalities and having empathy for people, especially during challenging transactions. I hashtag myself as ‘the nice Realtor’ because I really try never to say ‘no.’,” Cutler said. “People want that personal touch and understanding, and I think that has helped me thrive this past year.”

White said his new team is part of an ongoing effort to capitalize on the growing interest in Palm Springs. He also recently launched a billboard campaign and a monthly newsletter to keep current and prospective clients in the know as Palm Springs continues its shift from a secondary home to a primary home market.
